We, the members of Mt. Angel Police Department, are committed to affirmatively promote, provide, and preserve a feeling of security and safety among all persons within our jurisdiction.

To this end, it is our goal to hire, train and retain members who possess and display those attributes which best illustrate the finest characteristics of our profession; honesty, integrity, compassion, and intelligence.

The members will be aware of and promote the essential partnership between the police department and the citizens who they serve.  The members of the police department will strive to reduce not only violations of state statutes and city ordinances, but the subsequent impact those violations impose upon the livability of our community.

We are committed to using the authority entrusted to us in a fair, consistent, and empathetic manner.  We will treat all persons equally, regardless of age, gender, ethnicity, or social or economic status.  We will be responsive to the faith placed in us by the citizens of Mt. Angel by maintaining a police department that is above reproach in ethical and moral issues.

Mt. Angel Police Department is a full service 24/7 operation.  Our compliment contains one Police Chief, two part-time administrative assistants, six full time officers, and four reserve officers.

Among the full time duties of being an officer, our officers have a gamut of other responsibilities; School Resource Officer; Range Master; Defensive Tactics Instructor; Deputy Medical Examiner; Communications Officer; Training Officer; S.W.A.T.; and a Facilities Officer.

In addition to servicing the community of Mt. Angel, the police department contracts its services to the Mount Angel Abbey, whose daytime population is between 350 and 450.

Mt. Angel is celebrating its 45th annual Oktoberfest.  Approximately 350,000 people visit Mt. Angel during the four day festival. Additional officers are needed to assist Mt. Angel Police Department personnel in providing 24 hour protection for our citizens and visitors during this event.
